Today, a work in the Contact Group was based on security issues and the situation that has developed because of the bridge reparation in Stanitsa Luganskaya.
The Republics focused on an increasing number of attacks by the armed forces of Ukraine, including with the use of heavy weapons, which again led to tragic consequences.
“Against this background, a breakthrough was needed in agreeing on additional measures to strengthen and control the cease-fire regime, which will be included to the joint statement of the parties on the introduction of an indefinite and sustainable truce. Thanks to the perseverance and efforts of the Republics and negotiators – the OSCE and the Russian Federation – we managed to force the Ukrainian party to agree on all the necessary effective measures” – Natalia Nikonorova stated.
The situation with the upcoming elections to Verkhovna Rada and the fact that Ukrainian negotiators needed electoral bonuses leveled the usual intractability of the Ukrainian party.
“Our position on the implementation of all Minsk Agreements paragraphs, and especially on security issues, is strong because it is absolutely devoid of any politicization and never tied to any political events. For us, the peace of our citizens is the most important thing and we will not stop defending their interests and rights violated by the Kiev regime, including the right to a peaceful life. It is important that we have achieved this agreement and in the near future the Contact Group will make a joint statement on the introduction of an indefinite, stable truce with the obligation to comply with all necessary measures for its control and strengthening” – Natalia Nikonorova concluded.
