Сommentary of First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People’s Republic Mikhail Mnukhin

Prime-Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk declared today, on the 18th of February in a session of the government that Ukraine would not pay for electricity in the zone of the counterterrorist operation.

We think that the Ukrainian government is one more time trying to worsen the difficult humanitarian situation, which millions of inhabitants of Donbass are confronted with every day. With obstinacy to be envied, Mr. Yatsenyuk is contriving more and more new ways of complicating the anyway not simple life of the peaceful citizens of the Donetsk People’s Republic, counting on systematically destroying our social infrastructure.

Primarily, an economic and transport blockade is imposed on us, which practically leaves people with no means of subsistence. Now the subtle mind of the administration of Ukraine has decided to cut people off from power supplies.

We want to stress that the given situation is an extremely crude violation of international humanitarian law. We call upon the whole international community to pay attention to the catastrophic situation of the people of Donbass. We insist on the necessity of immediately taking a complex of measures aimed at stopping the unpunished actions of the Ukrainian government against the citizens of the Donetsk People’s Republic.
