The reasoning of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine about the “boundaries of compromise”, which the Ukrainian authorities are ready to make in the framework of the conflict resolution in Donbass, suggests that the chief of Ukrainian diplomacy continues to take his wishes for real. However, the boundaries of reality are such that he has only disappointment ahead - all of his inventions about the Minsk agreements are destined to break into the legally fixed obligations of Ukraine.
In particular, Kiev’s leadership will sooner or later have to come to terms with the fact that they will need to coordinate absolutely all conditions and modalities for holding early local elections with representatives of the Republics. At the same time, we recall again that it is extremely premature to talk about early elections. First it is needed to complete all those stages that, according to the Package of Measures, must be completed before the elections debate, namely, to enter into force the law on Donbass special status, to develop and coordinate with us all the ensuing regulatory legal acts and agreements, and, in mandatory order, amendments to the Constitution to give a special status a permanent character. Also, one should not forget about the importance of elaboration and legislative consolidation of the mechanism to prevent the prosecution of persons participating in events in Donbass. We will not allow any decisions unilaterally from the Ukrainian party.
