DPR MFA: We will do everything to spread the truth about the egregious crimes of Ukrainian formations

14 March 2022

Today, Ukrainian armed formations have committed a terrorist act unprecedented in its cruelty and inhumanity. The Ukrainian army used the Tochka-U missile system with a cluster-type charge in the very center of the capital in the daytime. This atrocity was intended to be carried out precisely at such a time and precisely in a peaceful area of the city, where there have never been any military installations - those responsible for this crime wanted to inflict maximum damage on the civilian population, among which now in Donetsk mostly only women, old people and children.

As a result of this monstrous shelling by the Ukrainian side, at the moment, at least 20 dead, 35 wounded, including a child - and the data is still being specified. Republic’s doctors are now fighting for their lives. And if the missile had not been destroyed in the air by the use of air defense systems, there would have been disproportionately more victims.

Today, the entire Donbass, the entire Russia, the entire world, which has preserved the concepts of compassion and humanity, mourns together with the families and friends of the victims and prays for the recovery of the injured ones.

The shelling carried out by Kiev, as well as the weapons that were used today in the peaceful city quarter, are categorically prohibited by the international law: article 32 of the Geneva Convention, article 8 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, article 2 of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, European Convention on Human Rights and many other documents. Moreover, international law provides for the possibility of creating an ad-hoc tribunal to investigate this and many other war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Ukraine.

It is time for the Ukrainian authorities to realize that all atrocities and all offenses in Kiev are collected and recorded, both on the territory of the Republic, including within the framework of the Special Committee for recording the crimes of the Ukrainian authorities in Donbass, and by the bodies and departments of the Russian Federation.

Both we and our colleagues from Russia will make every effort not only to clarify the circumstances and those responsible for today's terrorist attack, but also to bring them to justice to the fullest extent of the law. We will also do our best to spread the truth about the egregious crimes of Ukrainian formations to the world community as widely as possible.
