This is the first time we hear about allegedly coordinating weekly meetings within the Minsk format, which Zelensky announced in a political talk show. Such ideas have not been put forward or discussed in the Contact Group.

We emphasize once again: meetings of the Contact and working groups are held on a regular basis according to the schedule that has developed during the negotiation practice and is really convenient: every two weeks. Now, taking into account the video format of the meetings, the negotiation process stretches for three days for technical reasons, and at the same time, the work does not stop between meetings: proposals and projects of the participants are prepared and considered, positions are exchanged in correspondence. In addition, if necessary, we are ready to hold extraordinary videoconferences on emergency issues if they bring a concrete positive result and really lead to a settlement in Donbass. But Kiev, unfortunately, is absolutely not interested in constructive work and is not able to fulfill even those obligations that were personally signed by representatives of the highest Ukraine’s leadership. One of the most striking and recent examples is the protocol published by us on the meeting of the Contact Group dated March 26, which clearly shows that almost every our proposal was rejected by the Ukrainian side, without providing any arguments or even the slightest attempt to discuss and agree. Thus, it is obvious that until real will appears in Ukraine to fulfill the obligations under the Package of Measures objectively and clearly, statements about the need for a more frequent mode of meetings of Minsk format participants are just PR from Kiev, which will not lead to any serious progress.

We strongly recommend that the Ukrainian authorities do not wishful thinking. Instead, it is better to finally embark on the only possible diplomatic way to resolve the conflict, which is based on a direct, constructive and conscientious dialogue with representatives of the Republics.
