The сomment of the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People's Republic Mikhail Mnukhin

Not far than two weeks ago Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Grzegorz Schetyna was distinguished by very extraodinary statement touching ethnic structure of the First Ukrainian front of Red Army parts of which have directly released Nazi camp of death Auschwitz.

Though despite of the following wave of indignation Mr Schetyna is not likely going to bring his apologies and more than that continues his “historical searching” in the same way.

A few days ago he claimed again the statement about ethnically the First Ukrainian front consisting of Ukrainians but at this time he has mentioned only 51 percent, not the earlier said overwhelming majority. We assume that during next statements this number will continue falling.

We belive that the decrease of mentioned numerals happens under the pressure of social opinion maybe because of Mr Schetyna`s arithmetical weakness. More than that for example in the 60th army of the First Ukrainian front departments of which had directly released Auschwitz, according to documents revealed at the moment, except for 38 thousand Ukrainians the were also more than 42 thousands of Russians, thousands of Belarusians, Tatars, Jews, Armenians, Georgians, Ossetians, Balkars and many other peoples of the USSR.

It means that by the maximum estimates the number of ethnical Ukrainians were up to 42 percent from the whole military force.

Such statements do not deserve commentaries.

Noteworthy is the fact that during the last period recent attempts to articulate the “alternative version” of the Second World War history not just increased but were massively used at the level of the authorities of Ukraine.

At our opinion an artificial presentation of ethnic factor in this concrete case is trivial manipulation of narrow political interests of certain forces. Naturally, we do not make the contribution of the Ukrainian people smaller but it should be remembered that it was made possible only through the joint efforts of all the peoples of the Soviet Union.

We emphasize once again that all attempts to rewrite history are the extreme hostile actions against all civilized societies of the modern world. The aim of figures like Mr.Schetyna apparently is the reanimation of all that once was associated with man-hating totalitarian regimes, in the battle where millions of our compatriots lost their lives as, by the way, certain part of the Polish people did too.
