At the meeting on July 21 of the Contact group the representatives of the Russian Federation came up with an initiative to organize all the necessary technical measures for conducting the next meeting in August in face-to-face format.
The representative of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republic, as well as the OSCE representatives have supported suggestion of mediator represented by the Russian Federation. This initiative is expedient not only from the point of view of restoring the previous format of negotiations, but also in connection with the inauguration of many new coordinators from the OSCE, including the OSCE Special Representative in Ukraine and in the Contact Group.
Obviously, that personal acquaintance with new participants and the exchange of reliable and relevant information in person will contribute to more productive and intensive work to find a way out of the stagnation that has developed in the Minsk negotiation process due to the destructive position of the Ukrainian side.
Once again, we pay attention that Republics are ready to work with all constructive suggestions for making negotiations more efficient and effective. But so far we do not see the slightest will to put forward and agree on such constructive proposals on the part of Ukraine, which makes it impossible to make any progress on the Minsk track.
