On October 16-20, the IX International Conference “Features of Modern Integration Processes in the Post-Soviet Space” was held in Yalta. The event was organized by the magazine “International Affairs” with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The conference was attended by delegates from the Donetsk People's Republic: DPR Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Natalia Nikonorova and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Natalia Mikhailova. Among the participants were Deputy Director of the Foreign Policy Planning Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexey Drobinin, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea under the President of the Russian Federation Georgy Muradov, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations of the Moscow State Institute of Foreign Affairs Yuriy Bulatov, Chief editor of the information portal “Tribuna.ee” (Estonia) Rodion Denisov, General Director of the International Institute for Development of Scientific Cooperation MIRNaS (Turkey) Arif Asalyoglu and many other scientific experts figures.
According to the established tradition, the conference was opened with the reading of greetings from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov.
“Your intellectual gathering is invariably distinguished by a rich program and an authoritative membership representing political, social, business, scientific circles of Russia and foreign countries. In the current international situation, a depoliticized exchange of views on a variety of topical international and regional problems deserves respect and support” - stated in the speech of Sergey Lavrov, which was read out by Deputy Director of the Foreign Policy Planning Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexey Drobinin.
Natalia Nikonorova spoke on the topic “Instruments of peaceful conflicts resolution through the example of the Minsk negotiation process”. She highlighted the main elements of the instruments of peaceful conflict resolution in Donbass:
“It is worth to pay attention to the mechanism for implementing the main components of the Minsk agreements, namely, the need to coordinate all issues relating to the territory of Donbass with representatives of the DPR and the LPR. For this purpose, the Minsk negotiating platform is functioning, which at the moment is the only opportunity for conducting a direct peaceful dialogue between the parties: Kiev and Donbass. However, despite the direct instructions of the Minsk agreements and basic principles of conflict resolution, the Ukrainian party continues to avoid negotiations with representatives of the Republics, without recognizing their subjectivity.”
At the end of her speech, Natalia Nikonorova emphasized the main problem in resolving the conflict:
“An insurmountable obstacle to a peaceful resolution at the moment is lack of political will of the current Ukrainian leadership to implement their commitments. We see that Ukrainian authorities act with the aim only to imitate their implementation.”
