Today, on October 17, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Natalia Nikonorova, took part in a round table on the development prospects of the Minsk process after Kiev's formal extension of the law on Donbass special status.
Representative of the Lugansk People's Republic in the political group Rodion Miroshnik, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Information Policy and Cooperation with Media Alexey Pushkov, Head of the Political Conjuncture Center Alexey Chesnakov, political analysts Denis Denisov, President of the Center for System Analysis and Forecasting Rostislav Ishchenko also participated in the event in Moscow.
According to Natalia Nikonorova, Donbass special status was to come into force in 2014, but so far it has not operated for a single day:
"Everything has been done from the Ukrainian side to prevent the introduction of a law on special status. And even the formal law that was adopted to prolong the validity of the special status is a forced step of Kiev due to international attention and guarantors of the Minsk agreements. And although the extension of the special status has opened a lot of discussions, but it did not resolve all existing contradictions."
Natalia Nikonorova stressed, that in circumstances where Donbass really needs a long-term political decision, Ukraine prefers to imitate the Minsk agreements implementation, without moving one step closer to real progress.
