Today we commemorate those who became victims of the events of August 2008, when Georgian troops fired the capital of South Ossetia - the city of Tskhinvali. During this bloody attack, hundreds of civilians died, thousands of lives were destroyed due to inhuman crimes committed by direct order from Tbilisi. It is impossible to describe how the people of South Ossetia suffered from grief and horror during these dark days, which went down in the history of our fraternal Republic as one of the most tragic and horrible events.

On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Donetsk People’s Republic, we express our deepest condolences to all residents of South Ossetia. The people of Donbass understand the pain of Ossetian people like no other and deeply mourn with the families and relatives of the victims. We are convinced that all those responsible for the crimes committed will be found and punished to the full extent of the law. This will not alleviate the pain of loss for those who have lost their near and dear ones during this bloody bombardment, but will become a fair lesson for future generations.
