The biggest result in today's work on political issues was considering these issues in the first term on the Contact Group agenda. In the rest, unfortunately, we have to state that the Ukrainian party continues to move away from a constructive and fruitful dialogue on the approved political agenda.
"Kiev for more than five years of negotiations has not submitted a single draft regulatory legal act for approval by the Contact Group, which clearly does not contribute to the achievement of positive results in a political settlement.
Moreover, at today's meeting, Ukrainian representatives even refused to discuss the mechanism for harmonizing the acts, which should be the basis of the work of a political group. In addition, I would like to remind that at the meeting on February 12, the representative of Ukraine undertook to provide a list of regulatory legal acts that need to be agreed upon within the framework of the Contact Group in the process of implementing the Package of Measures." - Natalia Nikonorova stated.
There were no special breakthroughs as part of the discussion of the draft rules of work for the Contact and working groups. Despite the fact that Ukraine has nevertheless submitted its written proposals to this document, consensus on this issue is still very far, since the draft proposed by the Ukrainian side contradicts the essence of the Package of Measures and peace talks in general.
The DPR Plenipotentiary urged Ukraine to finally provide its written position not only on the draft regulation, but also on each of the items on the political agenda, since only when the draft amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine on consolidation the special status of Donbass appear on the negotiation table, it will be possible to proceed with substantive and productive work on political track.
