At today's meeting of the Contact Group on political issues, OSCE Coordinator Mr. Morel announced his resignation and introduced his successor, Ms. Sylvie Bermann.
“We expressed our gratitude to Mr. Morel for his work and fruitful interaction with us during 6 years. Unfortunately, due to the complete Kiev unwillingness to conscientiously implement its obligations under the Minsk agreements, even small shifts in the political direction that have occurred during this time (the approval of the Steinmeier's formula and the decision to create an Advisory Council) became possible only under huge pressure on the Ukrainian side, and in fact, remained only on paper. In practice, there is still a systematic sabotage from the Ukrainian side and deliberate refusal to work on the political issues of the Minsk agreements.
At the same time, head of the Ukrainian delegation, Mr. Kravchuk, today said about Ukraine's readiness to focus not on how to avoid certain actions, but on how to carry out these actions. Ukrainian representatives often declared their readiness to act, but in fact we do not see the slightest aspiration from the Kiev side to start effective and coordinated work with us. But we observe all the new ways to get away from any productive activity" - Natalia Nikonorova said.
That is why today, during the introduction process of the new OSCE coordinator, the Republics did not limit themselves by expressing their hopes for effective work, as the Ukrainian representatives did, but also briefly outlined the current destructive situation on the political track.
“In particular, we told Ms. Bermann about the situation with the Roadmap sent by us, on which we have not been able to receive an answer from Kiev for more than 9 months. We asked her to make any possible efforts to unblock the work of the group on political issues and finally start a productive discussion of the Roadmap. We also paid attention to the fact that there are no “good” or “bad” Roadmap projects for us. We are ready to work on the Ukrainian version. But in this case, Kiev needs to change it in such a way as to eliminate all contradictions with the Minsk agreements. According to our estimates, Ukrainian delegation project consists for 78 percent of such contradictions” - DPR Plenipotentiary said.
