On May 16, 2018 a sitting of the political group on the resolving of the conflict in Donbass took place in Minsk. The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPR Natalia Nikonorova took part in negotiations.
“Today, for the first time in 87 meetings of the political group, the Ukrainian party not only made openly provocative statements, but also direct threats of physical violence and criminal prosecution. Today, in addition to Kiev party’s usual dishonest attitude to the negotiation process, the representatives of Ukraine have demonstrated a clear disregard for the norms of culture of communication and behavior in society.
The fact that the OSCE coordinator decided to leave the room to tame our counterparts was an eloquent testimony of aggressiveness on the part of the representatives of Kiev and of their clear desire to create an open squabble in the negotiation room.
Ukraine is trying to destroy the fragile contact between Kiev and Donbass in any ways, which still maintains in Minsk at the cost of incredible efforts on our part.
It is obvious that as long as the Ukrainian negotiators are avoiding the dialogue in all ways and prolong the conflict, the people of Donbass continue to suffer. This approach of Kiev is absolutely unacceptable. Without decisions on political issues, which are the basis for peace in the region, there cannot be any long-term and stable results in other spheres of the Minsk agreements. Once again, we call on Ukraine to stop provocations, both on the contact line and in the negotiation room, and to urgently start discussing the most important issues on the agenda, first of all, on the approval of Steinmeier’s formula and amnesty, a constructive dialogue on which has not taken place today” - Natalia Nikonorova about the sitting of the group on political issues.
