KIEV IS NOT TO BE ABOVE CHANTAGE IN THE QUESTION OF PRISONERS EXCHANGE

Work on the implementation of the humanitarian component of the Minsk agreements was not crowned with progress during today's meeting of the Contact group.

The Ukraine’s representative was engaged in outright blackmail today: he demanded that 4 people be handed over to the Ukrainian side in exchange for the signing by the Ukrainian president of a decree on pardoning 9 persons. At the same time, Leonid Kravchuk openly ignores the fact that Ukraine signed a protocol a year and a half ago, which clearly outlines the obligations of the parties to "process cleansing" of the persons participating in the exchange. Accordingly, all these persons should have been released from criminal prosecution a year and a half ago. However, to date, Kiev has carried out this clearing procedure only in relation to one person out of 51.

It is especially cynical that the Ukrainian party carries out its unscrupulous provocations and offers to give them four people, referring to their alleged serious health problems. However, firstly, according to our information, this statement does not correspond to reality. And, secondly, such manipulations, covered by considerations of humanity, only exacerbate the already extremely negative reputation of the Ukrainian representatives on the Minsk site. They ,instead of fulfilling their direct obligations and exempting 50 people from criminal prosecution, are exclusively engaged in unfounded PR and poorly disguised extortion.
